MEDITATE AND DESTROY is a 81 minute documentary about punk rock, spirituality, and inner rebellion through the eyes of bestselling author Noah Levine (Dharma Punx, Against the Stream). This powerful film examines the driving forces that transformed Levine from an addicted rebel into a Buddhist teacher and community leader. Tattoos, motorcycles, and an engaging punk rock soundtrack are featured in this inspirational story of finding new paths- even in our darkest hours.

What began in December 05 as the worlds first conscious 48-hour film festival has rapidly evolved into a breakthrough multi-media event. "ELEVATE Film Festival 5 "All Tribes Unite" culminates on October 5th at Los Angeles' premiere arena, the 7000 seat state-of-the-art Nokia Theatre LA Live. In the way Cirque Du Soleil has radically redefined circus, Elevate is revolutionizing the experience of cinema. By merging cutting edge science and technology with movies, music and new media, ELEVATE will be a futuristic feast for the senses. During the event, sound wave and energy wave healers will be available to provide treatments to audience member to provide physical healing for the Festival. It is our attempt to provide an amazing new experience with a little something for everyone. With special guest bands and the premiere of music videos by APL of the Black Eye Peas and 3 time Grammy winning Artist Kev Mo the music and the energy is not to be missed!!

The theme for ELEVATE is "All Tribes Unite!" We will bring together leaders and elders of native and indigenous people and give their ancient wisdom a voice through modern technology. Our goal is to ignite the deep connection we inherently feel with one another and our precious planet.

The main event is the world premiere of more than twenty short films produced exclusively for this night. Emerging and professional filmmakers from around the world are given assignments to be completed within seven days. The films cover bold and timely subjects, impacting the major forms of media: commercials, music videos, documentaries, scripted dramas and comedies. The filmmakers join us live in Los Angeles for the world premiere of their projects.

For the grand finale we will launch the first annual Elevate Award Show to honor celebrity philanthropists for doing their part to Elevate our people and our planet.

Through a series of in-depth interviews of the festival’s founders, organizers, and participants, DUST AND ILLUSIONS traces the festival’s history, while examining whether the festival is a victim of its own success.
If Solow is part of the Southern Cali-based crew featured in Hypen Magazine and the documentary Rize, then he must be a member of The Rice Track, one of the few (if not only) groups of Asians in the underground dance scene known as krumping.

He then got signed onto the Ruff Ryders label but his debut album flopped. He has been releasing albums with other labels since and continuing to win MC battles all over the world.

http://people.tribe.net/le4life/blog/e52e5069-a312-4783-9577-1689cfc7eddb#comments

America's disproportionate reporting on white, attractive, female victims of crime has been a topic I've wanted to cover in a film for a few years now. Below is the mess of thoughts and observations I hope to someday put together into a cohesive documentary. Brutally honest feedback would be appreciated.

IF I WAS A GIRL
...I never would've even been born, literally. My parents really wanted a boy and tried three times unsuccessfully. After my three sisters, I was on the way, but due to China's anti-overpopulation policies, my parents weren't even supposed to be having any more children. My mom told me that the nurses let her slide because I turned out to be a boy. So Chinese attitudes (not now but back then) around boys versus girls make up the main reason I was conceived and delivered, and thus gender issues are sort of personal to me.

PROSTITUTION, THE WORLD'S OLDEST PROFESSION
In high school I developed an interest in the criminology and psychology of serial killers. A statistic that always stood out for me was the high percentage of victims being prostitutes. One reason street hookers make easy targets is because the illegality and stigma of their work prevents them from approaching police, reporters, and doctors like other victims. Furthermore, do law enforcers and the media treat serial murder cases with less urgency if they involve victims with unconventional lifestyles or jobs? And how is being a woman different in a country such as Amsterdam where sex work is regulated like any other business and where rates of rape, assault, and STD infections on prostitutes are much lower?

DRUGS
Decades ago, opium, cocaine, and marijuana became illegal because, according to the media, Chinese, black, and Mexican men - respectively - were using the substances to seduce or sexually assault white women. Protecting white females as a catalyst for drug prohibition persists to this day, in far more subtle ways. Before Bill Clinton left office, he signed an anti-GHB bill in honor of teenager Hillory Farias who had fell into a fatal coma after having drank something spiked with the depressant chemical. Had Farias not been white, could her overdose have sparked so much attention in the media and led to the criminalization of GHB?

Come to think of it, what is the rate of teenagers of color experiencing such tragedies around drug misuse or abuse? I certainly don't know because reporters don't bring it up. Following the news for my work with DanceSafe.org, every story I saw about anyone who became addicted to or overdosed on ecstasy had the same profile: a middle-class white kid whose life in school and home was perfect before drugs ruined everything. How these reports highlighted the kids goes to show that the definition of an all-American teenager is still a very narrow and false one. According to the media, you should be happy if you're white and on the football team and getting crowned at your prom.

YOUNG, PRETTY, AND ALL-AMERICAN
My sisters were discussing the discovery of Laci Peterson's body one evening and I asked who they were talking about. Sarah asked if I had been asleep the past year to not know about this girl. The reason was that I never watch television or follow the news except for work. I don't see the point in obsessing with such cases - as tragic as they are - because every story is the same. And this brings me to a few more questions:

1) What populations of American women are being ignored by the media?
2) Why does this happen from a news industry perspective?
3) Does more coverage equal better investigations of cases?

Is the focus on the all-American damsel in distress promoting a certain idea of what girls are or should be? Firstly, reporters eulogize each victim as a successful student, loving housewife, or some other socially acceptable role model. Secondly, attractive images of the victim are circulated throughout headlines. What sickened me most about the coverage of Laci Peterson was that the shot of her cute dimple-faced smile was published repeatedly even though her head wasn't even attached to her body anymore. I'm sorry, but this is exploitation, not sympathy. If the media only values sexually appealing, well-behaved females, then is their reporting trend executed out of respect and sorrow, or out of a desire to objectify women and keep them in their place?

COMPARED TO MEN...
The focus on pretty white girls doesn't just exclude the majority of real female victims, but also the majority of male victims. Violent crime reporting in general reflects the urge to promote traditional gender roles - females as complacent, passive victims and males as aggressive perpetrators. The only major coverage on the assault or murder of a man occurs when the assailant is a woman. Because the context of women supposedly being well-behaved has already been established, a case like this will seem especially sensational and unique.

This ideology is shared by our justice system. Women are now being imprisoned at a much faster rate than men, and their crimes - like the ones of their male counterparts - are often drug-related. The sentences they serve are often longer and harsher for the exact same offenses. Why is this? Take any judge or prosecutor or juror who believes women are supposed to be nurturing, gentle mothers and caregivers, and present them with a woman charged of drugs or violence, and how do you think they'll react? In essence, when men commit assault or abuse their children, it is natural and acceptable compared to when women do it, and American courts are acting accordingly.

Well Michael Moore is one of my favorite filmmakers ever and "Bowling for Columbine" is the main reason I decided to get into documentaries. With that said, he isn't what he used to be. I've been thinking about it and "Sicko" kind of sucked ass. No doubt he had compelling info in it but overall it was flat and predictable. Here are my three main points against the film....

1) The story didn't really make me think outside the box. He is always accused of being one-sided and polarizing issues which is sort of true but I didn't mind it in his previous films. With "Bowling for Columbine," for example, he presented so many issues around media, fear, and military history that after watching it I could consider gun violence within a broad context, which made the story that much more interesting. In "Sicko," it was just America's health care is bad and the other countries are good (which I agree with, no doubt), and he discussed our labor and education system but that wasn't really enough for me.

2) Some of his examples of how other countries have better health care were really weak. Like when he went around and talked to a few families and doctors to show their good standard of living, I was like what the fuck, just cuz you show a few people from that country like that, I should believe that's the norm there? And the last scene in Cuba was such a joke, just a bit too melodramatic. Those folks made one visit to a Cuban hospital and got sent back to the States where they would have to continue dealing with the American (lack of) health care system. I don't exactly think that one visit made as much of a positive impact on the patients as MM wanted us to feel, unless they would have regular access to those medical facilities after the cameras stopped rolling. It was just really cheesy to me. I think I'm a lot more skeptical and apathetic than I was several years back, so it takes more in a film to get me worked up now.

3) Last but not least, and this relates to number 1, I really don't think Moore needs to suppress any info from the other side to advance his own message. No one needs to assume other countries have perfect health care cuz they don't. My friend who lived in France for years said she had quacks for doctors, and of course there is the issue of taxes. Moore can incorporate these factors and still produce a strong conclusion that the US needs reform. Besides, taking all this into account might help people understand some of the reasons (besides corporate and political influences) why America is still like this. It's not always those in power, but also citizens who choose not to make changes. I know some people who would rather stick with our shitty system (which they don't think is shitty anyway) than cough up taxes for otherwise free health care.

Thoughts, feedback, anyone?

Tribespeople,

We're in the process of pulling together the program for The 2007 Anti-Corporate Film Festival (Oct. 19-21, www.countercorp.org), and are inviting cinema-savvy folks such as yourselves to recommend documentaries that include some elements or themes on how corporations affect our lives.

These can include domestic and foreign, feature-length and short docs. (The only caveat for foreign films is that they need to have English subtitles.)

If we end up screening a film that you suggest, we'll give you two free tickets to *any* film at this year's festival.

The fastest way to send us your suggestions is directly to the festival at submissions@countercorp.org. You can also post your suggestions in reply to this post.

However, our volunteer staff does not check Tribe every day (unlike e-mail). If two people suggest the same film, the first suggestion we receive will win the free tickets if we end up screening it.

Thanks, and look forward to hearing your ideas!

Basically, they went around the world, asking folks from every walk of life and religion the same 20 questions….from Thich Nhat Hanh, Ram Dass, Deepak Chopra, a street kid in Colorado, Father Thomas Keating, Barbara Marx-Hubbard, random people on the streets all over the world, Riane Eisler, Robert Thurman, Sadhguru Jaggi Vadsudev, Atheists, The voice of his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama ...etc.

The thing I love the most about it is that it doesn’t tout any one idea or way of looking at things. Instead, it shows the diversity of us all and in a simplistic way, shows that we although we may look different, have different cultures, different beliefs and different lifestyles, we are still all one humanity.

This is an excellent depiction of the inside workings of the music industry and of how censorship affects artists who choose to speak their mind, especially if they have a conservative fan base.

I liked the Dixie Chicks anyway, but now I have a newfound love for them. The film does a great job at showing how strong the three women are, professionally and personally. I highly recommend you see this flick while it's still in theatres or when it comes out on DVD. And go support the Dixie Chicks!!! I'm buying their new album right now!!

The film Venice Lobotomy was well recieved and we had quite an interesting discussion regarding politicians like Bill Rosendahl who... we all came to agree that he was certainly there for us (renter's and vendors on the OFW) in words but not so much in effectual actions. He did come to the funeral for Chuck Snow a past resident of Lincoln Place who fought hard for the right to have an affordable home. Chuck is still reading the scriptures and blessing us from heaven now. I'll never forget his comforting readings at Tent City. The film has greatly improved and I hope that with the coming jury trial there will be a turn of events that will break like dominoes the fist that is crushing everyday people in Venice/LA/USA. It would be very nice to see politicians like Mayor Villaraigosa grow a backbone too so the film will have a happy ending.

Hi there,

as I am new to this tribe I should introduce myself: Markus, 28, German cultural anthropologist living in Istanbul. That's done then.

I guess from time to time I would like to bring in here, besides all the other docs I like, those from German speaking countries, because as I have lived for example in Paris for a while and as besides English speaking movies especially those from lumieres-landia can be found everywhere in the world and usually the German ones almost nowhere, I'd like to share some of these hidden but promising little blossoms with you ;-)

One of the esthetically most stunning, yet because of its content also most unsettling documentaries I have seen this year was definitely Nikolaus Geyrhalter's Unser Taeglich Brot/Our Daily Bread, an Austrian seemingly hyperrealist, yet very quiet, 'peaceful' film showing you without any commentary what you eat and were it comes from, no matter if meat or sunflower. Living at the other end of the endlessly producing food chain...

www.europeanfilms.net/reviews...rot.html

Another one I would like to recommend to you strongly is an already rather famous one by Volker Koepp, a somewhat 'traditional' documentarist from eastern Germany with a great interest in Eastern Europe.

Herr Zwilling und Frau Zuckermann (1999) is about an old 'couple' who are two of the last surviving, German speaking Jews after the Holocaust and Migration still living in their small town of Czernowitz at the Ukrainian/Rumanian border. A portrait of the past and a present imbedded in nostalgia with the witty, laconic irony of its protagonists...

www.cine-holocaust.de/cgi-bin/gdq

- but everyone who's seen Stanislaw Mucha's hilarious Die Mitte (The Center) about Europe's new 'center' and where it can possibly be found, will know that these regions won't stay forever at the fringes of a continent drifting more and more to the east... :-)

See you next time, same place different content.

And by the way all people interested in 'mediterranean', 'eastern European', 'Balkan', 'middle East' documentaries having some favorites to share (as my focal point I will sımply say: Turkey, because that's where I live at the moment) please let me know :-)

That said, we're trying to think of some good contest prizes for both feature length and shorter length documentaries.

Help us settle an internal argument:
would you rather win a huge hard drive or a new, high-end still camera... or maybe a lower-end camcorder?

Our grand prize is already a Panasonic Proline camera, so that's settled.

I'm not intending to promote the contest or spam (note the lack of link and/or company info), I literally am just wondering what people would like to win.

I recently had an idea for a documentary film that I'd really like to make. I've never made a film, and I don't know anything about filmmaking really, but this is something I'd really like to do. It's an idea that has been kicking around in my head for some time now but in the form of a book. I do write, and I enjoy a good story, which may be why I hit upon the idea of creating a documentary.

The only problem is where do I begin? Aside from fleshing out my idea into something more concrete, what sort of equipment should I get? Do I need one of those really big mics? Is there a place where I can borrow equipment, and/or discuss my idea with someone who's done this before? In short, any words of advice would be most appreciated!

Hello everyone,
I have an awesome documentary idea, but I lack the technology and partner to film it. I’m looking for someone in the bay area. I have final cut, but no Mac, I don’t have a camera, but wish to use a DVX 100, (but I’m open to others). OH, and lights!! I don’t mind renting equipment, but if someone already has access to equipment, and likes my idea, maybe you would like to work on this project with me? My degree is in Apparel design, but as elective classes, I chose film and editing. I am sure I am not as experienced as many of you, but I’m not completely ignorant. I don’t have experience in Pro tools.
I picked up a great book on documentary filmmaking, though, I want to branch off from traditional styles. I hope to start in September, as I am busy putting a fashion show together for B-man. I would like to interview people from the bay area, but I also fancy taking a trip to NY for a few days to interview people there, (I have someone I/we can stay with). I want to interview as many people as I/we can, then use only the best of the best. I digress, if someone wants a fall/winter project shoot me an email. I want to take this seriously, but have fun, and would like to get it into an indie film festival.
Thanks,
PROJECT
We are presently in production of a wonderful documentary film entitled, In the Heart of the Deathless, which explores the vitality for life which is to be found through a direct confrontation with death. Production has grown to such a degree that we now seek additional assistance to satisfy the basic needs of production.

POSITION
We seek individuals with prior experience for two positions:
1) On-Set Assistant: Help set-up and strike the lights and sound for a basic “interview-style” film-set. Several interviews may be scheduled during the week (Thurs – Sat) throughout the SF Bay Area and elsewhere.

Hi doc tribe,

I posted this on another rather small film tribe and eager to hear a wider response to this,
so reposting here.

fwd>
Re: Werner Herzog's Little Dieter Learns To Fly (1997)

greetings,

ummm, not to dis any herzog viewing, the guy's clearly a prolific and inspired artist...

but just wonder if anyone would care to dialogue here about what i consider
one of herzog's greatest shoe-eating episodes, about to be re- served BBQ-style
with his newest " Rescue Dawn" (coming soon) his "hollywood remake" ?, " part 2" ?
"attempted redemption"? or ???.

of course, it's impossible to adequately discuss a film that no one's seen yet,
but the trailer looks sadly + suspiciously like a sequel of The Artiste getting very lost in the jungle... TWICE
( though maybe this one's really all about losing oneself in the heart of L.A. ).

for fun or jaw-dropping disbelief check it out :

www.gibraltarfilms.com/theatr...rd.html

note : no major or significant vietnamese characters AGAIN

(perhaps herzog's been hanging out with ridley scott and other pentagon schmoozers on how to make bad war propoganda).

um, but back to " Little Dieter Learns To Fly"...

if yur watching for a 1st ,2nd, etc. time, please tell me:

how can u in all clear conscience make a film about vietnam ,much less a veteran war hero / nutcase, without
revealing even a glimpse of what was happening to this country's local inhabitants in a time of a very dirty war ??

its been a while that i've seen this film, but that's the impression i remember... utter nausea.
and i can't seem to bring myself to watch it again, though i suppose i might have to.

any thoughts much appreciated, as i've wanted to write about this for some time...
and this new release should make a great opp to re-examine ...

respex,
pod

btw, his new film "wild blue yonder" which played at castro for the SFIFF was fascinating ...
also a great topic for deeper analysis, hope it plays in SF again soon.

A Tribute to Richard Leacock and D.A. Pennebaker
Saturday, March 4, at 7:00 pm

Leacock and Pennebaker in person! These two prolific innovators of cinéma vérité collaborated on the legendary film "Monterey Pop" (1968). Pennebaker’s unforgettable "Don’t Look Back", which chronicled Bob Dylan’s 1965 tour of England, is considered the first “rockumentary.” Leacock’s hand-held cinematography is renowned in his own films and the works of a number of filmmakers, including Robert Flaherty’s 1948 classic "Louisiana Story". A very special guest will present the duo with Marcus Prizes for Lifetime Achievement, followed by a screening of a selection of their films.
I am embarking on a major spiritual film project, the rainbow serpent project (tribe.net of the same name,) where a group of light workers, artists and performers will be travelling from Glastonbury UK to the earth chakra points around the world. To create a earth healing net work of indigenous people and supportive spiritual aware people at each of these seven sights, through the medium of film we will document their traditions and link them to all the other indigenous people we meet.

I have made a few documentaries with a spiritual content which have fit in the experimental genre, but hoping to crack a new genre. I am also working with a friend who has been researching spiritual film making. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that would like to share some knowledge of channels of commissioners, either TV, Cable, Sky or DVD sales. Lets work together to make this a better world.

Documentary Film Maker is desperately needed in New Orleans.
I am a resident of New Orleans and there are atrocities happening in my city that need to be documented.
Please find a way to help save my city. Interest needs to be sparked to bring attention to this crisis.
Please visit the daily forums at nola dot com- you will read the cries for help from the locals.
Some of us have been without electricity for over a month now with no honest answers from Entergy or city officials. Basic quality of life issues are being tested here. The cold front that has moved in will mean no heat, no hot water, no way to cook or even refrigerate food for a lot of us who are here to bring the city back to its feet. Businesses have taken top priority over residents. Reports of Police Harrassment- and recently, we have on record, our first post-Katrina Murder. City officials feet are dragging and issues such as Parking Permits are taking precidents over basic human needs.
This is a huge issue for the rest of the country and it is the rest of the country that needs to know what is going on down here. What can you do help??

It's on Netflix. I just watched it. It's not as bad or hostile as it sounds. Obviously, it tries to show or prove things that I would never buy in a million years. For example, there are a lot of interviews with everyday folks who have successfully started their own businesses. In other words, Americans who have worked hard and made it cuz racism, corporate corruption, etc aren't as bad as Moore says they are. But there are other points raised in the film that are very interesting, particularly the ethical issues around telling a story fairly and honestly through the documentary medium, which the director proves is quite difficult even for his own project. At the same time, he slams Moore for misleading editing/interviewing techniques used in "Bowling for Columbine" and "Fahrenheit 9/11."
When Hockey Came to Belfast

Belfast is a city divided in two–Catholic and Protestant. Everyday life there is scarred by religious and political divisions. Even the popular sport of soccer is not safe from these conflicts and further acts as a breeding ground for resentment. In comes ice hockey as a breath of fresh air. In fact, hockey is so much of a common bond between the two communities that it transcends the existing religious divide. When Hockey Came to Belfast is about two friends, Paul (a Catholic) and Andrew (a Protestant) and their love for the local team: the Belfast Giants. We witness how their friendship begins because of this game, their dreams of playing professional hockey in Canada and the daily hurdles they must overcome to keep their friendship a secret. This documentary also highlights how the Belfast Giants team stands as a symbol of hope in the community and the hockey arena as a friendly and religion-free zone for everyone.

“Genuinely beautiful, and genuinely beautifully shot – a cause for hope.”
- Albert Maysles, legendary documentary filmmaker

“Farmer John is a character of magnitude…a maverick, and a philosopher of the soil who is ready to reflect in elegant prose on the meaning of being alive.”
- Michael Rabiger, author, Directing the Documentary & Directing: Film Techniques and Aesthetics

“The film evolves into a deeply moving metaphor for the struggles of an entire generation. His triumphant story is essential for all us city folk who have found ourselves despairing for the earth and what has seemed like our inevitable alienation from it.”
- Mark Achbar, director, The Corporation

“A most compelling character…. He’s a red state American who shows no hesitation about riding his tractor while sporting a fushia feather boa…. [S]uffused with a soulful optimism as vast as the fruited plains.”
- Scott Foundas, Variety, 5/5/05

“This video memoir is a beguiling combination of agrarian ode and the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, deepened by Peterson’s square sincerity as he struggles to find himself in relation to his family’s land.
- J.R. Jones, Chicago Reader, 4/1/05

“[A]n inspiring, thoroughly moving portrait of organic farmer John Peterson that serves also as a chilling study of superstition and intolerance in the heartland.”

“Peterson’s quirkiness and lovability were apparent from the first shot… the audience…laughed and cried in all the right places.”

"The Real Dirt on Farmer John" at the SIFF Sat and Sun!

What Sky says:

This film will blow you away, that's a promise.
Best Documentary I have ever seen.
Did you like Hoop Dreams? how about Sherman's March?
The Real Dirt is better.
Nuff said.

Now, what I like about this movie review site is that somebody there in movieland thought that if you liked Farmer John there is a strong chance that you'll feel similarly about The Outlaw Josey Wales starring Clint Eastwood! No kidding, that is the film they think most resembles the feeling you get from watching The Real Dirt. Isn't that the coolest?!
At the bottom of the page on The Real Dirt they say:

"If you like this title, we also recommend The Outlaw Josey Wales."

And damn! if they weren't spot on!
At first glance you wouldn't think John with his soft spoken Midwestern charm, that understated classy delivery of the plains maverick was channeling Josey Wales - and then you start to see all the similarities.
Yea, John's got that same steely-eyed resolve, that can't-be-broken spirit that shines from within. John Peterson and Josey Wales both suffered horribly at the hands of fate, withstood more pain and degradation that most men could stand. And yet... and yet, they stood tall and proud and could not be stopped when faced with the impossible task of reclaiming their life, their manhood, their proud American farmer spirit...

Yes, The Real Dirt has all the necessary elements to make a classic as does Josey Wales...
A magical combination of farmland fact and underdog fantasy...

The fantasy, this time, 30 years after Eastwood as Josey Wales... is Farmer John who switches from a simple peasant farmer to stone-cold Bio-Dynamic CSA Genius...

His planting and networking becomes as precise as his cigar sucking...
Whether he is merely taking a split second to rig some machinery on a tractor or appearing out of the sun as an 'army of one'... it is Farmer John's screen presence as something unique, direct and strong, the essential Peterson persona that is a powerful attraction to the public...

Josey Wales, oops, I mean John Peterson, has no desire to become the most successful bio-dynamic and CSA farmer in the universe... At the beginning of the film he is a peaceable Illinois farmer whose farm is lost in the small farm failures of the 80s.... and this story is the unbelievable journey back to wholeness, you will witness John rising from the literal flames of disaster, like a phoenix, to claim his place in history!

The film opens with what is arguably one of the coolest movie quotes of all time....
We see John's boots squishing through the mud as he surveys his fields, kneeling down upon the ground, he reaches down for a handful of earth and pensively tastes it...

"The soil tastes good today..."

and you begin to enter Farmer John's world as director Taggart Siegel guides your journey with passion and deep insight...

enjoy!

These public domain news segments represent a small sampling of the this amazing collection but should help make it more accessible, especially to low budget filmmakers.

Before TV news there were newsreels, short news segments that ran before feature films at the movie theater. One of the companies donated their entire archive to the National Archives when they stopped producing them in the 60's, dedicating the collection to the public domain.	The collection runs from 1929-67 and is probably the most heavily used collections for documentary filmmakers. While not as high quality as the Prelinger Archive [http://www.archive.org/movies/prelinger.php] (the source of these clips is vhs not film) the activist filmmaker on a budget should find lots of useful material. Topics covered range from the Cold War, Vietnam, the Middle East, as well as silly human interest "man bites dog" stories.
organization whose members include survivors of
Acquired Brain Injury, their families and caregivers,
professionals from the fields of medicine and social
service, and other concerned individuals from
throughout the community.

MBIN provides a community reintegration program at The
Larkspur Center in Larkspur, California, near the
College of Marin. The program addresses the
functional limitations and psychosocial barriers that
survivors of acquired brain injury frequently
experience.
"The Glen"
by Glen Bullock

If I were a fruit, I would be a lemon,
because I can be sweet, but I am often sour.

If I were a shoe, I would be a sandal,
because I am comfortable, but not too formal.

If I were a song, I would be, "Amazing Grace"
because the fact that I am alive
proves God's grace.

If I were a car, I would be a racecar,
because I went really fast, and was dangerous.

If I were a color, I would be blue,
like a blue streak.
Sometimes I feel sad and blue.

If I were a land formation,
I would be a large island,
because I am large, but often alone.

This is a documentary, 58 min. made totally by 3 people and very little SSI money. It is about a man and his fight for justice from a work related injury that has taken at least 20 years from his life. The insurance company, State Compenstation Insurance Fund, is an insurance company for Worker's comp and we address the corruption and fraud in this system that addresses all workers in the state of Calif. and 30 others. After the screening, we will walk 2 blocks down for a press conference in front of this huge mama pig insurance company. If you are not injured or if you are, all are welcome. This is a powerful way to protect yourself and take a stand. I look forward to meeting you. Here is the press conference info and more info about the movie. the cause and location!

Hey all,

I'm in a bind. I'm so busy with a day job and my freelance work, and need to find someone to log/transcribe 9 mini-dv tapes (60 min or under) immediately and I will pay. Only 3 tapes should be interviews/the rest logging basic b-roll). It is for an amazing organization supporting teens in promoting clean elections, with a professional basketball player as the founder. Preferred if you have your own access to logging station/abilities.

If interested please contact jessafire@yahoo.com asap. thanks!
I am so pleased to let you know that the film is ready for review... What a mess and it continues to be a mess. I have seen the IP addresses of the state of Calif. and many involved in the politics of it all! I want to encourage all to go for it! to find those that lie and go for it! This has been something I never expected and found more then I ever thought possible. I am greatful for everyone that had the courage to fight for freedom and the rights of those that just thought that if you lived right, things would be fine. Thank you to everyone !!!!
